Horace L. Buddoo, who ran a gas station during the huge riots that occurred mainly in Kingston, Jamaica in 1985 due to the sharp rise in gasoline and propane gas prices, was thinking about moving to the United States. The debut work was born when the still-unknown reggae artist Michael Levy, whom I met at the store, was given the opportunity to create at the legendary Jamaican studio Channel One, which produced many masterpieces.
According to Horace Buddoo's interview in the video, Michael Levy suddenly came to the gas station and begged him to put out a record. That's right. Apparently, he found a musician hanging out at a nearby record store called Groggy Heiser, and booked the Channel One studio for just two hours. Horace Buddoo, who had no experience in music production and had no interest in the record industry, tells the anecdote that led him to leave such a masterpiece. Jamaican nori is the best. .
The original tape (especially the horn part), which was damaged by the 1988 hurricane, has been beautifully restored and remastered by Naram, the owner of the Red Robin label. First reissue on 12" vinyl.
